We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society. ーAngela Davis

I first engaged with piracy as a young kid– truth be told, I had no idea what it was exactly, but it got me free art programs like Photoshop and Flash, so I paid it no mind. Actually, I accidentally downloaded malware onto my laptop quite a few times after that, attempting to pirate on my own (using Pirate Bay, along with a few sketchy torrent sites). Then when I started high school, I learned to install CFW on my consoles such as my PS Vita and 2DS, and successfully completed my first game on RPCS3 (Persona 5)! It was buggy as hell and often crashed, which would lose me hours of progress when I was unlucky. I believe my laptop broke during that time, actually. But, it was only in college when I started to engage with piracy from a lens of educational freedom. That's when I learned about Library Genesis, which saved me tons of $ on textbooks every semester. That is to say, one can engage in piracy for many years before realizing why it is meaningful, and even necessary.

Hegemony has been present in education for centuries Although I do not have an audience nor influence, I want to do what I can to fight against barriers from education.
